Drive through to the barn

In the classic Engadine house, the suler or piertan is an anteroom to the living room, kitchen and dining room. In the Chà Gronda it is separeted from the living room. The piertan leads directly to the street through a driveway. The floor consits of strong larch planks. The hemispherical bulge of the oven can be seen on the left wall. In the suler we show different vehicles; for example a fire engine from Zernez (1795) or a carriage as it was still used in the early 1930s. (Cars were only registred in the canton of Graubünden in 1925).
