Annual report President

Annual Report 2024 Our museum has been classified by the canton as an institution of regional importance, which is important for receiving support from the cantonal cultural office. Therefore, we want to remain interesting for the population of our region, for our members, as well as for guests in the Lower Engadine who come from various countries. At the beginning of 2024, the board developed an activity and investment plan for various projects. Summary of our activities in 2024: February 9, 2024: Spinning room with folk songs and humorous anecdotes from "Men da la Betta" May 4, 2024: General meeting with presentation of the interactive table and an informative and humorous lecture by historian Dr. Paul E. Grimm on the topic of "500 Years of the Three Leagues in Graubünden." Museum operation: The museum was open from June 14 to October 13, 2024. Summer Exhibition: "Textile Processing – From Raw Material to Finished Product" (Opening Reception on June 14) Aita Dermont and Tina Fried had already sorted the museum's textiles in 2023. Fabrics deteriorate if not stored properly. Therefore, Aita contacted the textiles manager at the Rhaetian Museum in Chur. This exchange gave rise to the idea for the 2024 special exhibition. The opening reception opened with an engaging and informative lecture by the director of Tessanda Val Müstair. On display were: A brief history of textile production in the valley (panels, photos) All tools and materials with explanatory panels and technical terms Two films: "RTR - Chasper Schmidt turns spinning wheels" "Kassensturz, 21.11.2023 - Textile recycling" Closing ceremony and demonstration day on October 13th: At each stand, experts explained the work steps: Wool: washing, combing, spinning Flax and hemp: sowing, harvesting, drying, processing, spinning Weaving, sewing, decorating, embroidering Products: Clothing, bed linen, sheets, handicrafts Guided tours: A large portion of our income comes from guided tours of the village and museum, including an aperitif in the main living room. These were organized in cooperation with the tourism organization TESSVM. Guests came from many countries, even from the USA. TIM TAM: The TIM TAM program is still active in the Lower Engadine. Armon once again led school classes through the museum and had them write stories. Miscellaneous: The President and Armon attended events organized by the "Terra Retica" organization within the framework of Interreg, as well as events organized by the regional funding organization Engiadina Bassa / Val Müstair / Samnaun. Unfortunately, Tina Fried stepped down from her position as treasurer at the end of 2023. Thanks: One of the President's most rewarding tasks is to express gratitude, also on behalf of the entire board. Our heartfelt thanks go to: board members Aita Dermont Stupan, Antonia Lorenzetti, Armon Parolini, and Reto Strimer; auditors Tina Bott and Jon Pitschen Janett; curators Linard Marugg and Erich Pfranger; supervisors Antonia, Elisabeth Sarott, Sonja Gartmann, and Linard; and special thanks to Maja Rigoni for her hard work and dedication in organizing the special exhibition with Aita. All of our activities would not be possible without the financial support of the canton, the municipalities of Zernez, Scuol, and Valsot; the Corporaziun Energia Engiadina; and other donors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you. June 2, 2025. President: Peter Langenegger

Report librarian

General Meeting of June 16, 2025. As librarian at the Engiadina Bassa Museum, I regularly deal with literature—books and documents, often of historical value. While cleaning the library, I gradually gain an overview of the collection. The problem, however, is that this is very time-consuming. This process uncovers interesting finds that inspire reflection and research. I did attend a course on reading the ancient script "Kurrentschrift" (after Ludwig Sütterlin), which is even older than "Altdeutsche Schrift" (Old German script). My responsibilities also include digitizing the museum so that existing finds can be made more visible. The database is continually being expanded and adapted, and the interactive table is also being updated and corrected. I have received support from teacher Corsin Marugg from Zuoz. He previously learned programming with VBA and was able to simplify many of the steps necessary to correct or update the interactive table. Furthermore, the "Tim-Tam" meeting program continues to operate. This means that a team of two people visits the museum and publishes something historical online. We're always looking for interested individuals to bring someone to the museum. I'm happy to be available for advice or questions in the future, too.
